THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Significant Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Limited Tornado Risk.
Elevated Hail Risk...up to nickel size.
Significant Thunderstorm Wind Damage Risk...up to 70 MPH.
Significant Flooding Risk.
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Several waves of showers and thunderstorms are expected to move
across northern Illinois today into tonight. The storms during
much of the day are not expected to be severe, but will produce
heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding as they move over the
same areas.
A strong cold front will then shift across the area tonight,
resulting in the likelihood for an eastward moving line of strong
to severe showers and thunderstorms. The main threat from these
storms this evening into tonight will be damaging wind gusts in
excess of 70 mph. However, there will also be a nonzero risk of
tornados across north central Illinois. Very heavy rainfall will
also continue to be a hazard with these storms, and this could
result in rapid rises, and possible flooding on area streams and
rivers.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.
Sunday...
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Elevated Frost Risk Sunday night.
Monday...
Elevated Frost Risk in the AM.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters will likely be needed late this afternoon and this
evening.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving east northeast at 50 MPH...
