THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Elevated Hail Risk...up to Quarter size.
Significant Thunderstorm Wind Damage Risk...up to 70 MPH.
Limited Flooding Risk

DISCUSSION:
Thunderstorms are likely to develop this afternoon ahead of a
southward moving cold front. The highest threat for severe
thunderstorm development is from mid to late this afternoon,
especially along and south of a line from near Pontiac Illinois
to Valparaiso Indiana. Strong damaging winds look to be the main
severe threat with these storms, though some hail to the size of
quarters will also be possible. The threat for thunderstorms will only
last for a short time, as storms should shift southeast of the area by
early this evening.
This cold front will also create dangerous swim conditions across
Northwest Indiana beaches this afternoon through Tuesday night as
high waves develop fairly quickly when the front arrives.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.
Tuesday
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
High Swim Risk.
Wednesday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters may be needed mid to late afternoon mainly along and southeast
of Interstate 55.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving east-southeast at 40 to 50 mph.
