THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.
NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.
A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA ON MONDAY.
PRECIPITATION ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONT WILL BE IN THE FORM OF
RAIN...BUT AS MUCH COLDER AIR FILTERS IN BEHIND THE FRONT...ANY
TRAILING PRECIPITATION WILL QUICKLY CHANGE OVER TO LIGHT SNOW
MONDAY AFTERNOON INTO MONDAY EVENING. SOME ACCUMULATION...UP TO
AROUND AN INCH IN SOME LOCATIONS...IS POSSIBLE.
LAKE EFFECT SNOWFALL IS LIKELY MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY ACROSS
PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST INDIANA...MAINLY EAST OF GARY. AS IS TYPICAL
WITH LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS...EXACTLY WHERE THE BAND SETS UP IS
STILL UNCERTAIN...HOWEVER MODELS INDICATE THAT PORTER COUNTY HAS A
GOOD CHANCE OF SEEING PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW. UNDER THE MOST
INTENSE SNOW BANDS...WHITEOUT CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED WITH SNOW
RATES OF 2 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR POSSIBLE. GUSTY WINDS TO AROUND 35
MPH WILL ALSO LEAD TO BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY THROUGH TONIGHT.
