THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

THUNDERSTORMS...SOME OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE:

HEAVY RAINFALL WHICH COULD LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING.
HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER.
WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH.
FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
THERE IS A SMALL CHANCE FOR AN ISOLATED TORNADO IS POSSIBLE
OVER NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS LATE THIS EVENING.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE INTO NORTHWESTERN AND WEST
CENTRAL ILLINOIS LATE THIS EVENING AND SPREAD EAST ACROSS
NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWESTERN INDIANA THROUGH THE
NIGHT AND INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD MOVE OUT
OF NORTHWESTERN INDIANA BY LATE TOMORROW AFTERNOON.

DISCUSSION:

LOW PRESSURE IS DEVELOPING ACROSS THE PLAINS WITH A TRAILING COLD
FRONT EXTENDING TO THE SOUTHWEST. AS THE LOW TRACKS THROUGH THE
MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY THIS EVENING...COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF DEEP
LAYER MOISTURE WILL POOL ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT.
THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONT AS IT
CROSSES THE MIDWEST. GIVEN THE EXTREME AMOUNTS OF DEEP LAYER
MOISTURE...THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE EFFICIENT RAIN PRODUCERS...
WITH VERY HEAVY DOWNPOURS LIKELY. A WIDESPREAD AREA OF AROUND 2
INCHES OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED. SOME AREAS MAY SEE LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES WITH AREAS OF FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE.

THERE IS ALSO A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER LATE THIS EVENING
OVER NORTHWESTERN ILLINOIS. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR LARGE HAIL
AND STRONG...DAMAGING WINDS AND POSSIBLY AN ISOLATED TORNADO.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.

THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR CONTINUED FLASH FLOODING AND SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE OUTLOOK AREA WEDNESDAY. THE MOST LIKELY
TIMING FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING
INTO WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AS THE COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH THE AREA.
THE PRIMARY RISK FROM SEVERE STORMS WILL BE STRONG DAMAGING
WINDS...LARGE HAIL AND POSSIBLY AN ISOLATED TORNADO. THE SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH FLOOD THREAT WILL DIMINISH FROM NORTHWEST
TO SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE DAY.

WIDESPREAD RAINFALL OF AROUND 2 INCHES IS LIKELY WITH THE
THUNDERSTORMS INTO WEDNESDAY. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5
INCHES ARE POSSIBLE WHERE MULTIPLE STORMS TRAIN ACROSS THE SAME
LOCATION.

HIGH WAVES WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS AT LAKE
MICHIGAN BEACHES FROM WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NECESSARY TONIGHT.
