Hazardous Weather Outlook
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
409 AM CST Thu Feb 13 2020

Winnebago-Boone-McHenry-Lake IL-Ogle-Lee-De Kalb-Kane-DuPage-Cook-
La Salle-Kendall-Grundy-Will-Kankakee-Livingston-Iroquois-Ford-
Lake IN-Porter-Newton-Jasper-Benton-
409 AM CST Thu Feb 13 2020 /509 AM EST Thu Feb 13 2020/

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected...

Elevated Snow Risk, mainly this morning.
Significant Lakeshore Flood Risk.
Limited Non thunderstorm wind Risk.
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION...

An arctic cold front will bring much colder temperatures and
additional light to at times moderate snow to the region this
morning. The combination of gusty winds, patchy blowing snow, and
sharply falling temperatures will result in a period of
challenging and hazardous travel conditions for the morning
commute. Lake effect snow will continue this afternoon across
parts of Lake (IN) and Porter Counties.

Strong northerly winds will continue to build waves today causing
lakeshore flooding and exacerbating beach erosion, especially for
the northwest Indiana shoreline, but also extending west across
the Cook County shoreline.

Bitterly cold conditions are expected late tonight into Friday
morning, with sub-zero low temperatures across much of northern
Illinois and minimum wind chill values of 10 to 20 below zero with
some areas of 25 below zero across north-central Illinois.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Friday...
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Wind chill values of 5 to 15 below zero will continue through
Friday morning and again Friday night.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
