Weather hazards expected...

Limited Thunderstorm Risk.

DISCUSSION...

Isolated showers and thunderstorms will form in the vicinity of a
lake breeze advancing inland through mid afternoon. The thunderstorms
should dissipate during the 500 PM to 600 PM CDT hour. The main
thunderstorm threats are occasional cloud to ground lightning and
heavy downpours. While severe weather is not expected, if any
stronger thunderstorm can form, brief gusty winds will be possible.

Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Saturday...
High Swim Risk.
Tuesday and Wednesday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Widely scattered thunderstorms are possible on Friday. Due to
moderate to potentially strong instability, there may be a
few strong to severe storms.

Northeast winds on Saturday may result in high waves and
dangerous swimming conditions on Lake Michigan beaches.

Limited hail risk...up to quarter size.
Limited damaging wind risk...up to 60 mph.
Limited Fog Risk after midnight.

DISCUSSION...

Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are possible into this
evening south of Interstate 80. If thunderstorms can form and
intensify, an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm may be
possible.

Patchy fog is possible along and north of I-80 overnight, with
locally dense fog possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Limited Thunderstorm Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are possible on Friday.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop this
afternoon mainly along and south of US-24. The strongest storms
may produce quarter size hail, 50-60 mph wind gusts, frequent
lightning, and torrential rainfall.

Tonight, patches of fog, some dense, are possible.

DISCUSSION...

Thunderstorms may move into northern Illinois from Wisconsin
overnight, though there is fairly low confidence on the timing and
intensity of the thunderstorms if and when this occurs. Should the
thunderstorms maintain enough strength, there may be isolated
instances of severe weather along and north of Interstates 88 and
290. If any severe thunderstorms occur, the main threats would be
wind and hail, along with a threat for locally heavy downpours.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Wednesday...
Elevated Severe Thunderstorm Risk south of Interstate 80.
Limited Flooding Risk south of Interstate 80.
Thursday and Friday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Additional thunderstorms are forecast on Wednesday as a weak cold
front sags south. Some of these may be severe, with a threat for
damaging winds and large hail, along with producing heavy
downpours and possibly an isolated flooding risk. The highest
confidence in occurrence and scattered coverage of thunderstorms
is south of I-80 during the afternoon. If thunderstorms can form
in the late morning through early afternoon farther north, the
isolated severe risk could extend as far north as the Interstate
90 corridor in northern Illinois.

Spotter activation is not anticipated due to the later night risk.

Early season heat will prevail today with afternoon heat indices
reaching the mid 90s.

Thunderstorms are possible overnight, especially along and north of
Interstates 88 and 290. Some of these may be strong to severe, with
gusty winds, large hail, and a localized flooding risk, though
the coverage of severe weather should be low. Higher severe
chances will be north of the Illinois Wisconsin border.

Elevated Severe Thunderstorm Risk.
