Hazardous Weather Outlook 16:36:20.5918220

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

THUNDERSTORMS...SOME OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE:

WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH.
LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS.
SMALL HAIL.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

ALONG AND WEST OF THE INTERSTATE 39 CORRIDOR THIS EVENING AND
THEN SPREADING EAST AND SOUTH OVERNIGHT.

DISCUSSION:

A HOT...HUMID AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS IS IN PLACE OVER NORTHERN
ILLINOIS AND NORTHWESTERN INDIANA. A COLD FRONT DROPPING OUT OF
SOUTHWESTERN WISCONSIN AND NORTHEASTERN IOWA WILL BECOME THE FOCUS
FOR THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT. THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY SHOULD
APPROACH THE INTERSTATE 39 CORRIDOR...INCLUDING THE ROCKFORD AREA
LATER THIS EVENING. THE FRONT WILL PROGRESS VERY SLOWLY
SOUTHEASTWARD OVERNIGHT...SPREADING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO
THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR BY DAYBREAK TOMORROW MORNING. THE MAIN
THREAT WILL BE FOR STRONG...DAMAGING WINDS AS STORMS MAY GROW INTO
LINEAR SEGMENTS. HOWEVER...WITH DEEP LAYER MOISTURE IN
PLACE...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND SMALL HAIL ARE POSSIBLE.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE SATURDAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT FOR
THE ENTIRE OUTLOOK AREA. AS A COLD FRONT PUSHES THROUGH THE AREA
WITH STRONGER FLOW ALOFT APPROACHING...A CHANCE FOR STRONG
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS...AND PERHAPS SOME HAIL...WILL BE POSSIBLE
WITH THE STRONGER STORMS. THE FRONT AND ANY ASSOCIATED
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY SHOULD PUSH SOUTHEAST OF THE OUTLOOK AREA BY
EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.

THERE WILL BE AN INCREASED RISK OF RIP CURRENTS SUNDAY THROUGH
MONDAY ALONG BOTH THE ILLINOIS AND INDIANA SHORES OF LAKE
MICHIGAN.
