DISCUSSION:

Temperatures in the middle to upper 90s combined with dewpoints in the middle 70s to around 80 degrees will combine to cause heat index readings in the 105 to 115 degree range. The highest heat indices will be Friday and Saturday afternoon.

  • IMPACTS…The high temperatures, combined with ample sunshine and oppressive humidity, even at night, will lead to potentially hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions.

An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of high temperatures is expected. The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Areas of fog will dissipate this morning.

Temperatures in the upper 80s combined with dewpoints around 70 will result in heat index readings of 90-95 away from the lake.

There is a slight chance of non-severe storms after midnight tonight along and west of Interstate 39.
