THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Elevated Hail Risk...up to quarter size, mainly south of the
Kankakee River.
Limited Thunderstorm Wind Damage Risk...up to 50 to 60 MPH, well
south of the Kankakee River.
Limited Tornado Risk in Benton and southern Ford and Iroquois counties.
Limited Flooding Risk.
Elevated Fog Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Areas of dense fog will persist through mid morning. Thunderstorms
will become likely in the early to mid afternoon for portions of
the area, mainly south of the Kankakee River. It is possible that
some of these thunderstorms could become strong to severe, with
hail the main hazard in any severe thunderstorm. Very heavy
downpours and localized flooding are also possible in any more
intense thunderstorm.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters may be needed in the early to mid afternoon south of the
Kankakee River.

DISCUSSION:

Isolated thunderstorms are possible this morning. Severe weather
is not expected. Areas of fog are then expected this afternoon
through tonight, some of which could be dense.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.

Sunday...
Elevated Flooding Risk.
Significant Severe Thunderstorm Risk south of I-80.
Elevated Fog Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Severe thunderstorms and localized flooding are possible on
Sunday, with current indications favoring areas south of I-80, and
particularly south of the Kankakee River in east central Illinois
into Indiana, for the most appreciable severe weather and
flooding risk. The risk for severe weather and flooding will
lessen with northward extent, with severe weather unlikely in far
northern Illinois. At this time, the primary severe hazard on
Sunday is likely to be large hail, with isolated tornadoes and
damaging wind also possible in portions of east central Illinois
and Indiana well south of the Kankakee River. Finally, areas of
fog are likely on Sunday morning across the outlook area, some of
which could be dense.

DISCUSSION:

There is a slight chance of thunderstorm late tonight over
northern Illinois.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Saturday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Sunday...
Elevated Flooding Risk.
Significant Severe Thunderstorm Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Thunderstorms are likely Sunday into Sunday evening. The expected
weather pattern for this time of year suggests a rather
significant severe weather threat could unfold, including the
potential for tornadoes. There remains a great deal of uncertainty
as to how far north the severe threat will be Sunday. While there
is still some risk north of I-80, current indications are the
region most at risk is south of I-80, and especially into
northwest Indiana. The potential severe weather threat is still a
couple days out and changes to this outlook may be needed as new
data comes in, so stay tuned for later forecasts and outlooks.
