The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued an Air
Pollution Action Day for Wednesday July 16th for the greater Chicago
metropolitan area through Wednesday night.
A Chicago Area "Air Pollution Action Day" is declared when weather
conditions are such that widespread ozone and or particulate levels
are expected to be at or above the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
(UGS) category of the Air Quality Index (AQI) for multiple days.
Ozone is expected to be the primary pollutant of concern.
Active children and adults, especially people with pulmonary or
respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor
activity.

Patchy dense fog this morning will erode within a few hours of sunrise.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms may develop along a lake front
this afternoon. No severe weather is expected.
Building waves will make swimming dangerous, particularly for
northwestern Indiana beaches this afternoon.

...Patchy Dense Fog This Morning...
Patchy dense fog will continue to develop across portions of
northwest Illinois through the early morning hours. The fog will
be locally dense with visibility reduced down to a quarter mile in
some locations such as river valleys and other low lying
locations. Visibility will improve by 8 AM as the sun angle grows
stronger.
If traveling this morning, be prepared for rapid changes in
visibilities over very short distances, make sure to slow down,
and keep plenty of stopping distance between yourself and other
vehicles.
If visibilities down to one quarter mile become widespread across
a portion of the Special Weather Statement area, a Dense Fog
Advisory may be issued.
